April 10, 2011 in Evansville, IN: SIC Marathon and Half Marathon a huge success!
On Sunday, April 10, hundreds of runners participated in the Southern Indiana Classic (SIC) Marathon & Half-Marathon in Evansville, IN. Organizing this event took many months and hundreds of volunteers, but even with careful planning some things could not be anticipated. Hours before the start of the race, an unseasonable spike in humidity caused race organizers to cancel the marathon portion of the event. However, this didn’t stop everyone involved from having a great time. Volunteers scrambled to re-route the course and runners took extra precautions in preparing for the 90% humidity. Thanks to the fast thinking of race organizers and emergency personnel, the runners enjoyed a fun and safe event.
PRF is grateful to have been one of SIC’s 2011 charities. Thank you to Race Director, Jill Gehlhausen and Donut Bank founder, Chris Kempf for their support in raising awareness of Progeria for PRF!
