May 8, 2010 in Brownstown, Indiana: 3rd Annual Zach Pickard Pelican Run the Biggest yet!
It was a chilly, windy day, but generosity and kindness warmed up over 200 friends and family who came out to walk and run, raising over $32,000! This was the largest crowd, and the most money raised, since the event started 3 years ago, thanks to the team at Brownstown Electric Supply Co. who are always looking for ways to bring in more sponsors, athletes, volunteers, and more.

This was my first year working on the Zach Pickard Pelican Run committee; the joy and excitement I felt from being a part of such a great event was amazing. On May 8, 2010, all of our hard work seemed to just ‘fall into place’. I cannot put into words the way I felt as I watched the participants take off from the starting line… it was incredible! I truly believe that “Together we Will find a cure”.

What started three years ago as an idea has turned into an event that not only has grown, but now seems to be on everyone’s list as “THE EVENT” to attend in and around our community. The support from the community and the Progeria Research Foundation has been amazing. This means, as we have seen, that more dollars go to Progeria Research. We intend to continue the fight to cure this disease, with a “Whatever It Takes” attitude.
